A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose…. or is it?

Rose Essence OilDid you know that roses are just like people? Where they have been planted to grow up makes all the difference in the world. Not just the genealogical aspects (with all the various Latin names associations) but the actual location plays a part in how the roses grow up. Take for example the Red Rose Oil. The Reverend (ABRD) offers a Red Rose from the U.S. and one from the U.K.. These are extracted from red roses, but their fragrances differ… though slightly. The Red Rose Oil from the U.K. has a slightly less rosy-sweet aroma, a bit more earthy-herbal. The Red Rose Oil from the U.S. is slightly sweeter, slightly more rosy in fragrance. Both are beautiful true rose aromas.

And then there are roses which are totally different in fragrance. Rose Oil from Somali has a rich, spicy fragrance. The aroma of rose is there, but the spiciness really sings out. Somali Rose Oil is also dark brown in color and is very thick (the red rose oils from the U.S. and the U.K. are slightly greenish-clear in color with thinner oily textures). Another spicy Rose Oil offered is Black Rose Oil. This Rose Oil is similar in fragrance and texture to the Somali Rose – but not quite (though almost) as sweet.

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose... in walks Rose Absolute. This Rose Oil is a pure extract which has been processed in such a way as to really bring forward an extremely fragrant rose fragrance. But there is a price for this rose extract. The EcoVillage offers a 1/3 oz. bottle of Rose Absolute oil for $200. The rose essence oils mentioned above are $15 for a 1/3 oz. bottle. Essence oils make the gifts of nature very accessible for all to receive it’s beautiful fragrances in oil form.

A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose… The bounty of nature hands all - a bouquet of many roses to enjoy.

When it comes to scent, rose is my favourite. This one is beautiful and reminds me of a real rose. Nothing artificial about this essence. Like standing in a garden.

somali & black rose
I like the Somali rose, I can smell the deep aromatic flowers it's beautiful. Black rose has a really, really deep scent, so much so that I can actually smell the rose petals.
